“A Night to Remember”
On Saturday, August 15th, 2009, you are invited
to be part of an event
unlike any other: The Re-Enactment of the Bois Caiman ceremony. On the
218th
anniversary of the ceremony that launched the Haitian revolution to
abolish
slavery, we will celebrate in style.
Come and meet Bookman, Cecile Fatima, Biassou,
Toussaint Louverture,
Marie Jeanne, and all the other courageous heroes who combined their
efforts to
change their destiny in the pursuit of freedom. This is an event you
don’t want
to miss. It is a story like no other. Come hear the Drums beat through
the
night.
Bois Caiman Play performance by an
exceptional cast:
- An old slave’s tale from Africa to the Colony
- Dilemma of a pregnant slave
- Two young slaves and love
- Purchasing a female slave
- Bookman’s vision
- Fatima’s prophecies of Freedom Special Performance: Master Drummer Tiga Jean Baptiste and band

Hip Hop Movement:
Neg Mawon, Voodoo Child, JBezo, Seca Konsa, Euneek Spoken Words by: Ella Turenne, Melissa Beauvery Art Exhibit of mixed-media series “Harlem Hues”

Self-Taught Artist Carl Thelemaque Admission $10 This event is a Dream for Haiti initiative. All
proceeds from the night
will benefit Dream for Haiti: An art project which has the objective to
raise
funds to:
- Bring awareness and help increase local capacities to address
disaster
mitigation and preparedness
- Reduce the environmental impact of future disasters;
- Rehabilitate one school that is devastated by the hurricanes, in
Croix des
Bouquets, Haiti;
- Promote the unique arts of Haiti and establish a platform for Haitian
talents
