Depuis
le 20 Janvier 2009, la Guadeloupe est
paralysée par un mouvement syndical unissant l'ensemble de la
population, des
associations et des politiciens locaux contre, entre autres chose, le
coût
élevé de la vie, l'inégalité des chances pour les travailleurs ....
Après 20 jours de
manifestations et le lancement
des négociations, ce mouvement social (Lyannaj Kont Pwofitasyon) a
dépassé en
ampleur et en échelle ce que l'île a connu jusqu'à présent au cours de son histoire.
Entre 50.000 et 65.000
personnes ont manifesté dans
les rues. Après de longues négociations, le représentant du
gouvernement de
l'état (appelé préfet), a quitté la salle de réunion, compromettant la
réalisation d'un accord sur la plupart des demandes urgentes (40 sur
126).
Il est intéressant de noter
que, pour la semaine
dernière, le gouvernement français a fait parvenir par charter spécial des forces
de la
gendarmerie pour
éventuellement réprimer le mouvement, qui jusqu'ici a été traitée dans
la
dignité et le respect
Cela nous rappelle étrangement
les événements de
Mai 1967 où plus de 80 Guadeloupéens ont été tués, assassinés par les
forces de
police suite à un mouvement syndical.
Beaucoup de monde croient
fermement que plus de 40
ans, après ce tragique évènement,
que
les hommes politiques ont acquis en
maturité,
ce
qui les empêchera de tomber dans les
mêmes pièges et de subir les mêmes chagrins, la défaite et de
frustration.
La population de la Guadeloupe
plus déterminée que
jamais, est prête à
appeler davantage à
la mobilisation.
En tant que membre de la
diaspora guadeloupéenne au
Royaume-Uni, nous voulons exprimer tout notre soutien et solidarité à
ce
mouvement.
Les médias en France sont
muets sur ce qui se passe
actuellement en Guadeloupe.
Passez le mot que le monde
doit le savoir.

Since
the 20th of January 2009, Guadeloupe is paralyzed by a trade union
movement
that unite the whole population, associations and local politicians
against,
amongst other thing, the high cost of living, unequal opportunities for
native
workers….
After
14 days of demonstrations and initiation of negotiations, this social
movement
(Lyannaj Kont Pwofitasyon) exceeded in magnitude and scale everything
the
island experienced so far in its history.
Between
50,000 and 65,000 people were in the street. After lengthy
negotiations, the
representative of the state government (called préfet), left the
consultation
room, compromising the achievement of a deal on the most urgent demands
(40 out
of 126).
It
is worth noting that for the past week, the French government has been
sending
by charter special police force to suppress the movement, which has so
far been
handled in dignity and peacefully.
This
strangely reminds us of the events of May 1967, where more than 80
Guadeloupeans were killed and assassinated by the state police
following a
trade union movement.
Many
people strongly believe that more than 40 years of maturity will
prevent them
to fall in the same traps and undergo the same grief, defeat and
frustration.
The
people of Guadeloupe, more determined than ever, are ready to call
further on
the general mobilization
As
a member of the Guadeloupean diaspora in the UK,

want to express all our support and solidarity to this movement.

in France are silent about what is currently happening in Guadeloupe,
